Zlatan Ibrahimovic confirms he will play for Sweden at the World Cup

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has said he will reverse his international retirement and play for Sweden in this summer’s World Cup.

The 36-year-old is currently playing for LA Galaxy after a switch from Manchester United and has scored three goals in three games in the MLS.

He played 116 times for his national side – scoring 62 goals – before he called it a day in 2016 after Sweden were eliminated from the Euros.

But now he wrote on Twitter: “The chance of me playing in the World Cup is skyhoga #FifaWorldCup2018.”

Swedish word “Skyhoga” translates as “sky high”.

A few weeks ago Ibrahimovic has revealed he will only come out of international retirement and play in this summer’s World Cup if he ‘feels well’.

Sweden qualified for the 2018 World Cup after finishing second in their qualifying group, behind France.

Ever since securing a spot in Russia this summer, Ibrahimovic has been linked with making a return.

The 36-year-old has now revealed that the option to play for Sweden again is there if he wishes to take it.

“If I feel well, capable of giving what I can, the door will always be open. If I want to I’ll be there, if not no,’ he told the official MLS website.

“I want to play football, we’ll see what happens. They call me every day, they ask me how am I doing, but we need to take a step at a time. I repeat if I feel well and if I want to, I’ll be there.”
