Black Stars skipper, Asamoah Gyan has become Ghana’s highest scorer in African Cup of Nations with eight goals after his first half strike which qualified Ghana to the quarter finals of the tournament.
The Shanghai SIPG loaned striker scored with a brilliant header from a Jordan Ayew perfect cross from the right side of Mali’s half. The goal eventually became the match winner for Ghana and qualified the team to the quarter finals of the ongoing African Nations Cup in Gabon.
The goal cements Gyan’s status as the only player to score in six consecutive Nations C up .He scored in the 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015 tournaments and also the ongoing tournament, Gabon 2017.
However, Gyan is also gunning to equal or break Samuel Eto’s 14 goal record if he is fit and consistent with his goal scoring prowess.
