Former Black Stars captain, Charles Kwablan Akunnor has confirmed that he has hopes of coaching the Senior National football team, the Black Stars in future.
In an exclusive interview with Finder Sports, C.K Akunnor who is the coach of Ghana Premier League side, AshantiGold, revealed that the journey to becoming the manager of the Black Stars is a process and he is ready and willing to bide his time, irrespective of the impediments people will try to put in his way in his effort to achieve his set objective.
“There is a saying that we are in a queue, when it gets to my turn nobody can stop it. If I have to coach U-17 and U-20 before I get there it’s in the hands of God, human beings would try to put you down or stop you from your progress, but once God says this is your time to shine, nothing would stop it,” C.K Akunnor said.
After taking charge of last season’s relegation battlers and going five consecutive games unbeaten in this season’s Ghana Premier League campaign with league leaders AshantiGold, Akunnor has become the toast and delight of spectators and many have tipped him to become one of the men to handle the Black Stars in some years to come.
But the 44 year old said he is not carried away by the words of men but believes working hard is the only route to the top of any profession.
“I am only believing in God not human being because people talk and am not flattered by what they say. I respond positively but I’m not flatted at all.”
