Black Stars winger Christian Atsu has revealed reasons behind his stupendous form in the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Atsu was named man-of-the-match in Ghana’s Group D opening game against Uganda – the Black Stars won 1-0.
In Ghana’s second game against Mali, he was the toast of the fans as his surging runs gave Mali defenders problems.
“The more you play the better you become. I don’t play as much at club level as I do at Afcon. Here I play every four days and that has been of great help,” he said.
The on-loan Chelsea player at Newcastle is confident his form at the ongoing AFCON would have a great impact on his club fortune, especially with Benitez monitoring events from Gabon keenly.
“He is always checking up on me. He is always seeing how I’m feeling, how the games are going and others. He has created a group for Newcastle players at Afcon where he checks on us regularly. He is a good man,´he added.
