ES Setif General Manager, Djihad Boulahdjilet says Aduana Stars should forget about the CAF Champions League and rather concentrate on the CAF Confederation Cup as his team will eliminate the Ghana Premier League champions in the second leg on Sunday.
The Algerian club lost by a lone goal at the Dormaa Park in the first leg and are looking to overturn the result at home to book a place in the group stages.
Speaking to the media ahead of the game Boulahdjilet said, “Aduana can’t survive our attack and we’ll win by scoring at least four goals to qualify to the group stage. Truly, we will do everything possible to qualify to make Algerians happy again”.
He also debunked the news circulating that the match will be played in an empty stadium as it has been reported in the media.
“It’s not true we will play behind closed doors as speculated in Ghana,” he said.
“There will be 20,000 supporters in the stands to cheer the players up and with their loud voices, Aduana can’t stand us.
“They should start planning for the Caf Confederation Cup playoffs rather because they won’t survive in the return leg”, he added.
Meanwhile, Ghana’s only representative in Africa club competition Aduana Stars are brimming with confidence ahead of their second leg fixture against Algerian side ES Setif.
Aduana Stars are set to depart to Algeria on Thursday and are preparing adequately ahead of the game on Sunday.
Head coach of Aduana Stars Yusif Abubakar believes the Dormaa club can qualify ahead of Setif. In his post-match interview, Yusif sounded confident and the onus lies on him to deliver on Sunday.
“We won’t sit back and defend like they did against us in the first leg. We’re going to deploy a different strategy and give them a [good] game,” Abubakar said.
“If Setif believe they have what it takes to qualify to the group stage, we surely have the same chance. We are even having better advantage than them ahead of the return fixture since they have to score more than a goal without conceding before they can eliminate us.”, he added.
A defeat for any of the club will see them play in the first round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
