Information gathered by Finder Sports indicates that works at the Accra Sports Stadium is going on steadily as the contractor wants to finish the renovation works before CAF sends its inspection team in June to check Ghana’s readiness to host the tournament which comes off in November.
According to reports, the CAF inspectors on their first visit were not impressed with state of affairs of the venues especially the Accra Sports Stadium and the training venues which will host the tournament.
However the Local Organising Committee (LOC) assured CAF of the country’s preparedness during their second visit.
The Chairperson for the LOC, Freda Prempeh in an interview with TV3 reiterated the readiness of Ghana in hosting the tournament with preparations on schedule.
The LOC is set to officially launch the women AFCON on March 23, 2018 and will use the launch to unveil a mascot for the tournament.
“Everything is going on smoothly, we have prepared very well for the competition, there have been an inspection from CAF and they are expected to come for the second inspection, we will officially launch the competition on March 23 2018.
“The Accra Sports Stadium and the Cape Coast Sports Stadium will host the matches; we are also working on the Legon Sports Stadium, and the Achimota Park which will be the training pitches for the teams that will be based in Accra.
“The Ndoum Sports Stadium and the Robert Mensah Sports Stadium will also serve as training grounds for the teams in Cape Coast.
“So I can say preparation is going on very well and we can’t wait to get the competition started, she added.
