Asante Kotoko were held 1-1 at home by Hearts of Oak in an outstanding week 23 fixture of the ongoing campaign at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Kotoko began the game on a note as they dominated the Accra giants but they failed to break the Phobians’ back three led by Robin Gnagne.
Hearts of Oak started warming themselves into the game and Patrick Razak used his pace to create openings in Kotoko’s back four.
Getting to the end of the first half both sides pushed for the equalizer but they couldn’t get the ball at the back of the net.
The home side started the second half very well as they pelted the Phobians with series of attacks but the Accra giants kept their composure.
In the 64th minutes, the Phobians registered the first goal through Kwame Kizito after he was assisted by Fatau Mohammed.
Hearts of Oak then allowed Kotoko back into the game, and in the 77th minute, referee Dally Gagba awarded a controversial penalty to the home side.
Saddick Adams stepped forward and pulled even for the Kumasi giants.
Late in the game, Adams failed to grab the three points for Kotoko as he fluffed his line when he had goalkeeper Ben Mensah at his mercy.
