The president of the Ghana Football Association, Kwasi Nyantakyi, who also doubles as the 1st vice president of CAF, has stated that CAF took the right decisions to increase the number of teams that partake in the AFCON tournaments and also change the AFCON month from January to June/July.
CAF not long ago in a meeting at Morocco effected lots of changes in African football, these changes have brought excitement to some football fans and footballers who ply their trade abroad.
Some are of the view that the decision will bring some confidence to the players to put up their best in AFCON since the European season would have ended.
“CAF took the right decision, this is because there are lots of countries in Africa who most at times don’t get the chance to play in the tournaments of which a typical example is Nigeria and South Africa. These decisions will enlarge the chances of most good teams to get the chance of playing in AFCONS,” he told Hot FM.
The 2019 AFCON tournament in Cameroon will see a number of 24 countries testing their strength against each other for the trophy at stake.
