Entry into the stadium for the upcoming West African Football Union (WAFU) Cup will be free for students, a Local Organising Committee (LOC) member has confirmed to sportsnetghana.com.
A member of the LOC, Federick Acheampong disclosed that they want to make sure attendance to the various stadiums for the tourney is encouraging hence the decision to make it free for students.
According to him, the LOC have also decided to peg the ticket price at five Ghana cedis for every match day. Acheampong explained the five cedis ticket price as affordable which many people could purchase for the matches.
“The LOC have decided that because we want the numbers at the stadia we want to make the tickets as affordable as possible. So we have decided to charge a flat rate of five Ghana cedis throughout the tournament,” he noted.
“But specific target like students are going to enter the stadium for free. With that we are not going to just open up the gates, what we have decided to do is that the students should come in an organised form so that we know the particular school they are coming from. And what we will do is that we will identify leaders from the schools so that we hand over tickets to them to be distributed to the students. This will help us to account for the number of people entering into the stadium.”
