The Black Stars of Ghana launched a new dance with Kofi Kinnata’s hit song ‘Awurade begyi steer no’ at the ongoing AFCON during their celebration after Andre Ayew scored the penalty and the eventual winning goal for Ghana in the opening game against the Cranes of Uganda to pick the first three points in the group.
As expected, the Black Stars players moved straight to one corner and initiated a combination dance .But the dance was unusual and people found it difficult to connote and even relate.
It was however revealed after the match that the dance is termed ‘begye steer no’, which is a corresponding dance to the current hit song making waves in Ghana, composed by Kofi Kinaata.
It is not really known the motivation behind the song and the reason why the Black Stars picked this song as their dance tune.
The song which literally means ‘God should take over the driving steer’ is the toast of town this new year and has taken over the airwaves.
Meanwhile, Kofi Kinaata has expressed his happiness about the decision by the Black Stars players to use his song as a dance tune for celebration in the ongoing Nations Cup in Gabon. He feels elated and has urged the Stars to bring the trophy back home for Ghanaians to also use his song as the trophy celebration tune.
