On loan Chelsea FC midfielder Christian Atsu was adjudged the Total Man of the Match in Ghana’s opening game against Uganda in Port-Gentil Stadium in the ongoing African Cup of Nations in Gabon after a five-star performance which earned the Black Stars the narrow 1-0 win.
The Black Stars won by a lone goal to nil courtesy an Andre Ayew’s 32nd minute penalty which earned the three valuable points available and that helped the Black Stars begin the tournament on bright note.
But the player who caught the minds of the pundits and entertained the crowd is, 2015 Nations Cup best player, Christian Atsu. His surging runs, incising passes and blistering attacks were enough to grant him the Most Valuable Player of the match.
Atsu contributed immensely to Ghana’s victory over the stubborn Cranes and undoubtedly he deserves this accolade.
He was however denied on many occasions he came close to scoring by Uganda’s goal keeper, Denis Onyango who was arguably the man of the match on the Cranes’ side.
